Cricket Betting at poko — bet on all major matches from BPL to the T20 World Cup
From Bangladesh Tigers to every big moment in international cricket, poko is with you. Match winner, top batsman, live betting — all in one place.
Cricket's three formats and how betting differs
T20, ODI and Test — the three formats have different characters, so the approach to betting should differ too.
T20 is the fastest format — the result can change at any moment within 20 overs. BPL and IPL are the two most popular tournaments in this format. For Bangladeshi fans, BPL is a celebration — every match is full of excitement. Big sixes or sudden wickets shift the odds quickly in this format, making live betting especially engaging.
ODI, or one-day cricket, is a 50-over game. The pace is somewhat slower, with teams building their innings carefully. A large part of ICC events and bilateral series are played in ODI format. Test cricket is a five-day game — the focus is on patience and strategy. Pitch conditions, weather and team form play a major role in Tests, so these factors are worth considering before betting.
The T20 World Cup and ICC tournaments are the biggest stage in international cricket. Betting markets are most active during these matches, and at poko a wide range of markets — from match winner to innings total — is available for all these major competitions.
Football and other sports betting
Alongside cricket, there are betting options on football and other sports — though the betting style differs.
Football Betting
In football, a draw is a possible outcome, so there are three-outcome markets — match winner, draw and away team win. There are no over-based markets as in cricket; instead, number of goals and half-time score are popular.
Differences in Betting
In limited-overs cricket (T20, ODI) there are no draws — one of the two teams wins. For this reason, cricket odds are generally calculated based on two outcomes, which makes the betting calculation relatively straightforward.
More Sports Markets
Beyond cricket and football, markets for other international sports are also available at poko. Each sport has its own rules and betting style — having some knowledge of the sport before placing a bet is helpful.
Popular markets in cricket betting
A brief overview of which markets you can bet on for cricket at poko.
Match Winner
Which team will win the match — this is the simplest and most straightforward market. Example: if you think Team B will win a match between Team A and Team B, place your bet there.
Toss Winner
A bet on which team will win the toss. The toss does not decide the match result, but its importance can vary depending on pitch conditions.
Top Batsman
Which batter will score the most runs for a team — this market lets you bet on individual performance.
Total Runs (Over / Under)
Whether the total runs in an innings or the whole match will be above a set number (over) or below it (under) — this market is especially popular in T20.
Multi Bet
Combine multiple bets into one — if all selections are correct, the total return increases. For example, you can place a multi bet on the winners of three separate matches together.
First Wicket Method
How the first wicket will fall — bowled, caught, run out, and so on. This market is unique to cricket.
Most Sixes in the Match
Which team or which batter will hit the most sixes — this market adds an extra dimension in T20 format.
How to read odds — three formats explained
Decimal, fractional and American — all three formats express the same probability, just written differently.
All three formats express the same odds. A winning ৳500 bet returns ৳1,500 in total (৳1,000 profit + ৳500 original stake). If it loses, the full ৳500 is gone.
American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100. Here a ৳500 stake returns ৳750 in total if it wins (৳250 profit).
Decimal odds are generally the easiest to understand — to find the total return, multiply the odds figure by the stake amount.
Live Betting — place bets while the game is on
Odds shift when a wicket falls or a big over is bowled — live betting lets you act on those changes.
Live or in-play betting means placing bets while the match is in progress. In cricket, every ball, every wicket and every boundary changes the state of the match — and that change is reflected directly in the odds.
Say Team A is doing well in the first 10 overs of a T20 match and Team B has lost two wickets. At that point Team A's odds of winning will shorten (they are becoming favourites) and Team B's odds will lengthen. If you think Team B will come back, you can bet at those higher odds.
In live betting, decisions need to be made quickly. Odds update every moment, so staying focused is important. poko's interface works easily on mobile, so you can place bets while watching the game.
Another option in in-play betting is "cash out" — the ability to close a bet at a set return before it is settled — though you can find the details of this feature in the FAQ section.
- During the powerplay: Watch the batting team's run rate in the first 6 overs — odds can shift significantly at the end of the powerplay.
- After a wicket: Wait a little after the new batter comes in — the bowling side tends to apply pressure at that moment.
- In the death overs: The run rate and required runs in the final 4–5 overs are reflected quickly in the odds.
Some practical tips before you start betting
Betting is a form of entertainment — keeping these points in mind helps maintain a good experience.
Keep to your budget
Set aside a fixed amount for each betting session. Bet for enjoyment, not to win. Avoid placing larger bets to chase losses after a losing bet.
Focus on one market
Start with straightforward markets like match winner. Once familiar, move to more involved markets like top batsman or total runs. It is better not to bet across too many markets at once.
Take breaks, stop when tired
Avoid betting for long stretches without a break. Follow poko's responsible gaming guidelines to keep betting enjoyable.
Read the betting rules
Before placing a bet, learn the rules and conditions of that market. Full details for all markets are available on poko's terms and conditions page.
